About Us

About Us:

The Barbados Overseas Association of the Cayman Islands (BOAC) is a vibrant non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of Barbadians living in the Cayman Islands. Our aim is to create a strong, supportive community that celebrates Bajan heritage while embracing the Cayman Islands.

Our History:

In 1990 the BOAC was born from the vision of a group of Barbadians who recognized the need for a cultural touchstone in their adopted home. These pioneers sought to create a space where Bajans could come together, share experiences, and keep their rich cultural heritage alive. From its inception, BOAC has been committed to fostering a sense of belonging and connection among its members.

Our Mission:

  • Cultural Preservation: We strive to maintain and promote the cultural heritage of Barbados, ensuring that our traditions, customs, and values continue to thrive in the Cayman Islands.
  • Community Building: BOAC serves as a hub for Barbadians, their families, and friends to connect, socialize, and support one another. We believe in the power of community to enhance the quality of life for our members.
  • Educational Initiatives: We are dedicated to educating younger generations and those born outside of Barbados about our rich history and culture. Through various programs and events, we aim to instill a sense of pride in our Bajan roots.
  • Social Engagement: BOAC organizes a wide range of social and cultural events throughout the year. These gatherings provide opportunities for members to network, celebrate, and create lasting memories.
  • Support Network: We offer moral and practical support to Barbadian nationals, their spouses, children, and associates, helping them navigate life in the Cayman Islands.
  • Cultural Exchange: BOAC acts as a bridge between Barbadian and Caymanian cultures, promoting understanding and appreciation between our two island nations.
